It was big news last week when RuPaul won an Emmy Award for hosting his smash hit RuPaul’s Drag Race. But just several days later in Provincetown many drag queens received golden honors themselves at the 17, 895th Annual Showgirl Awards where Ryan Landry and his merry band of misfits hand out the Golden Piggies for a variety of irreverent and dubious accomplishments. This year’s ultimate grand supreme winner was none other than Mrs. Smith, the rock and roll granny who, in between playing Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix on Commercial Street, looks for her pet cat Carlyle…who has been missing for 19 years. Congratulations Mrs. Smith, and we hope you find your cat.
