Wellfleet Sprint Triathlon to Benefit WOMR

Those interested in participating in the Wellfleet Sprint Triathlon can now sign up via the event’s website. The mini-triathlon is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 and includes a 0.25-mile swim in Long Pond, a 10-mile bike ride loop on the ocean side of Route 6, and a three-mile run. The race starts at 8 a.m. with on-site registration at Long Pond beginning at 6 a.m. The registration fee is $95 ($110 for race day registration) and $150 for a relay team ($170 day of). A portion of he proceeds will also benefit the Wellfleet Montessori Pre-School. The event is also seeking community sponsors at levels of $250, $500, and $1,000. Fine Arts Work Center Benefit in Boston Approaching

Acme Fine Art is hosting an exclusive Boston preview of the exhibition Lester Johnson in Provincetown and a celebration of the work of writer Roger Skillings and his new book Summer’s End to benefit the Fine Arts Work Center on Thursday, May 19. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres are from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, and an after-party benefactor dinner begins at 8 p.m. at Troy Boston’s Skyline Lounge and Rooftop Terrace.

Lester Johnson in Provincetown is an exhibition that focuses on the relationship between one of the country’s pre-eminent figurative expressionists and Provincetown, one of America’s most important art colonies. The show features watercolors and ink works created by Johnson during the 1950s in Provincetown. Writer Roger Skillings moved to Provincetown in 1969 as a Fine Arts Work Center fellow. He has lived here ever since. Some of his previous works include P’town Stories or the Meatrack, How Many Die, Where The Time Goes, Alternative Lives, and Obsidian.
