Fun AND Free Days Coming Up at Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum

Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum (PMPM) is opening its doors for two special occasions: Father’s Day and Summer Worker Welcome Day. On Father’s Day, June 18, all fathers will have free admission to the PMPM, and on Monday, June 19, all summer workers will be welcomed with free admission.

For Father’s Day, the PMPM has a lot to offer with a visit to the museum’s exhibits showcasing the history of the Mayflower Pilgrims and of Provincetown, a climb up the 252-foot Monument to catch the 360-degree view, and enjoying the grounds for a picnic lunch.  If you are looking for a special Father’s Day gift, the PMPM gift shop has lots of choices from books, games, hats, t-shirts, glassware, and tableware, to Cape Cod salt water taffy and more! Consider treating dad to an annual membership and you can use it to get 10 percent off on your gift shop purchases. For Summer Worker Welcome Day, in addition to providing free admission, the PMPM will have light refreshments for all to enjoy.

Free admission for Father’s Day and Summer Worker Welcome Day is in addition to free admission for everyone every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. through August 30. For more information, visit pilgrim-monument.org.

Art on the Lawn Returns to Provincetown Library

Art on the Lawn is back for the 2017 summer season! Join the Provincetown Public Library for a fun and interactive summer arts and crafts experience for children of all ages.  Each Friday in July and August at 10 a.m., the front lawn of the historic building will be transformed into a creative space for kids to experiment with different materials, while exploring their own artistic imaginations. To showcase each child’s own artistic self-expression, kids will be encouraged to use different mediums, selected by the library program directors, to decorate a large blank canvas with their own creations.  Potential mediums this season include paint, crayons, chalk, finger-paint, and markers.

The 2016 Art on the Lawn series stood out as the highlight of the Library’s programming initiatives for children with a total of over 400 participants taking part in a total of nine sessions.  Inspired by the success of Terry Catalano’s Love on the Lawn exhibits in 2014 and 2015, Library staff worked to apply this fun, open format concept to a younger audience.

For the second consecutive year, the Library will also team with the Family Equality council to offer a special mid-week edition of Art on the Lawn during Family Week 2017 on Wednesday, August 2.  Art on the Lawn will hold its first session of the 2017 season on Friday, July 7.
