Provincetown 400 Presents
All Aboard with Provincetown 400

Provincetown 400, the non-profit organization planning events and programs commemorating the quadricentennial of the landing of the Pilgrims in Provincetown, signing of the Mayflower Compact and edification of the Wampanoag story, presents All Aboard with Provincetown 400, its first community launch event.  The public is invited to gather on Thursday, September 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at Sage Inn Provincetown (formerly The Pilgrim House) at 336 Commercial St., Provincetown.  Hors d’oeuvres will be provided, and a cash bar is available.

All Aboard with Provincetown 400 welcomes the community to learn about plans to honor the scope of the historic anniversary and Provincetown 400’s upcoming events and programs. The evening’s speaking program features Ken Horgan, proprietor of Sage Inn Provincetown, Michael Glasfeld, Board of Directors Chairperson of Provincetown 400, and Lisa Giuffre, Executive Director of Provincetown 400. Information will include initial details about 2020 commemorative events, educational programming, civic engagement initiatives, arts and humanities programs, and other important announcements. Information about becoming involved as a volunteer, contributing donations, becoming a sponsor, or serving on committees will also be shared.

Provincetown 400’s mission is to improve the quality of life of residents, the visitor experience, and to grow the economic and environmental vitality of Provincetown and Cape Cod.  The organization plans to accomplish this broad vision by showcasing the historic and cultural significance of the region.  Provincetown 400 is committed to educating the world about Provincetown’s unique role in the story of the 1620 landing of the Mayflower Pilgrims, the signing of the Mayflower Compact, the Pilgrim-Wampanoag relationship, and the five weeks of exploration on Cape Cod prior to the establishment of the nearby Plymouth colony—as well as sharing the heritage and culture of the native peoples living here long before the Pilgrims landed. Programs and events on tap are designed to actively impact the economy and social fabric of Provincetown and its surrounding communities in meaningful ways for years to come. The organization intends to expand some programming into national initiatives with the potential of reaching an international audience.

Pilgrims’ First Landing Park, Inc, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1996 has been operating as Provincetown 400 since 2016. The organization serves to commemorate the 1620 first landing of the Pilgrims, the signing of the Mayflower Compact, and to build a deeper understanding of the story of the Wampanoag, the native peoples of the region.

All Aboard with Provincetown 400 is generously sponsored in part by Sage Inn Provincetown.  To make a reservation, visit the Eventbrite page. Fundraiser at Mac’s This Saturday

Humanity Rises is holding a fund raising event on Saturday, September 16, 4 – 6 p.m. at Mac’s, Fish House 85 Shank Painter Rd. in Provincetown to raise funds to restore dignity via their Glimmer Projects. There will be a silent auction & raffle with complimentary apps. No tickets required.

Humanity Rises is a humanitarian organization focused on restoring dignity and igniting hope in the lives or refugees stuck in camps It was founded by Kel Kelly, a seasoned communications professional working with other business leaders to address this urgent crisis. While the eyes of Americans are glued to the recent hurricane victims and their plight is heartbreaking, their situation will be tough but temporary. Please take a few minutes to shine a light on the decades of refugee living faced by those stuck in camps in Greece. For example, here are a couple of startling statistics:
• 21.3 million refugees in the world
• Over 11 million are under 18 years old
• Average time spent in in a refugee camp is 17
years.

Humanity Rises, through its Glimmer Projects, creates outdoor gym parks in refugee camps that lift the spirit of the entire camp. Physical exercise helps restore dignity and is the best way to rebuild emotional and physical strength needed to maintain the hope necessary to cope and survive.

For more information about the event see the Facebook page: Refugee Fundraiser at Mac’s P-town. For more information about Humanity Rises visit humanityrises.org. If you can’t make the event, please consider making a donation at: humanityrises.org/donate/
