Courtney Love and Todd Almond Coming to Town Hall in August

Rock and roll legend Courtney Love along with longtime collaborator, composer and playwright Todd Almond will take to the stage at Town Hall on Saturday, August 5 in an evening of conversation with writer Kevin Sessums as well as to perform selections from their new musical Kansas City Boys Choir.  Billed as The Provincetown Sessions, the event is a sequel to a sold-out evening at the Curran Theatre on March 7, 2016 in San Francisco. At that event Love sang a cover of PJ Harvey’s “To Bring You My Love” as well as discussed their musical collaborations. That evening made news with special attention paid by SPIN and Rolling Stone magazines. The Provincetown Sessions promises to be an evening to remember. Party in the Pavilion

The Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater (WHAT) will hold its annual fundraiser, The Players Ball, on Monday, July 24, on the grounds of the theater, located on Route 6 in Wellfleet.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with an open bar and hors d’ouevres reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and a 7:15 p.m. celebration featuring an awards presentation, live auction, entertainment, and a special guest, to be announced. Dancing and dessert round out the evening.

Depth Perception at Cape Cod Museum of Art

The work of 19 sculptors and painters who paint in the medium of pigmented wax, and who are taking part in the International Encaustic Conference in Provincetown, have been invited to exhibit at the Cape Cod Museum of Art (CCMoA).  The exhibition Depth Perception: Painting in Wax runs through June 4 and will have an opening reception on Friday, May 26, 5:30 – 7 p.m. and a closing celebration on Friday, June 4, 5:30 – 7 p.m. The guest curators of the show are Joanne Mattera, founder of the Conference and Cherie Mittenthal, director of the Conference.

The artists will be attending a closing celebration at the Museum after the close of the Conference, which runs from June 2 – June 4 at the Provincetown Inn.

For information about the conference, visit The Cape Cod Museum of Art is located at 60 Hope Lane, just off Route 6A, on the same campus as the Cape Cinema and the Cape Cod Playhouse in Dennis. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Balkan E Boston Celebrates Music From Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Serbia at Eastham Public Library Free Concert

Eastham Public Library presents a free concert featuring Balkan E Boston on Saturday, May 20 at 2 p.m. Goran Daskalov (saxophone / accordion), Petar Dimitrov (guitar / bass / tambura / bouzouki), Elena Mancheva (vocalist) and Zoran Matich (guitar / vocalist) perform passionate and rhythmic music from Bulgaria, Macedonia and Serbia. This celebration of culture through music includes special guest John Thomas (piano).

The Boston-based band, formed by seasoned veterans of Balkan folk music, performs throughout New England, New York and New Jersey. The musicians specialize in genuine Balkan folk music that embraces the rich music heritage from various countries in that part of Europe. They are from Bulgaria, Macedonia and Serbia, which gives the performances a specific flavor of the mixed musical heritage and plays an important role in the performances.
