ACLU Lobby Day
The ACLU will hold a “Lobby Day” in Boston on Wednesday, September 27 to safeguard reproductive freedom. According to the ACLU of Massachusetts: “The Trump administration, packed with anti-choice activists and strategists, has taken dramatic steps to undo critical Obamacare protections for birth control access. And they’re not just talking big. They’ve put pen to paper and drafted an outrageous attack on reproductive health, which would enable employers to refuse to cover the cost of contraception for any religious reason — or even if they object to contraception on “moral” grounds. The draft federal rule could be issued any day, and it would go into effect immediately. We can’t let that happen in Massachusetts!
The ACLU, together with allies at Planned Parenthood and NARAL, is urging state lawmakers to take urgent action. Here in Massachusetts, we must pass legislation to guarantee continued access to copay-free contraception, and expand access to vital preventive care.
Please join us for the ACLU Freedom Agenda Lobby Day on Wednesday, September 27 to protect and enhance contraceptive access for all Massachusetts residents.”
The bill, known as the Contraceptive ACCESS Act (Act advancing contraceptive coverage and economic security in our state), is set for a hearing on Beacon Hill just one week after Lobby Day.
ACLU Freedom Agenda Lobby Day is Wednesday, September 27, 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Massachusetts State House, 24 Beacon St., Boston.
