“If you need it, you can probably get it at Conwell, from gardening supplies to plumbing fixtures, from paper products to art supplies, from paint to pool and beach supplies.”
There was a time when people’s lives revolved around the local hardware store. On a Saturday morning, you could find just about anybody there, picking up items, having a chat, asking for advice. That tradition still lives on with Conwell Hardware & Lumber on Conwell Street in Provincetown.
Founded in 1969, Conwell Lumber Company Inc. is Provincetown’s longest-running hardware store and lumberyard. Owner Jeff Rogers took over the family business in 1988 when his father became ill, and he has made the store into one of the first green building supply companies.
If you need it, you can probably get it at Conwell, from gardening supplies to plumbing fixtures, from paper products to art supplies, from paint to pool and beach supplies. It’s an independent Benjamin Moore paint retailer and offers specialized consultation around paint colors and home decorating and design issues. Oh, yes, and there’s hardware and lumber, too!
