If the Federal Bureau of Investigation needs new recruits it should look no further than fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Almost immediately after Sasha Velour was crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar the subject of fan blogs and social media posts turned to who would be on season three of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars, where former contestants are invited back to compete against each other for a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame. Mind you, the new season has not even been announced yet, but that didn’t stop these Internet sleuths from monitoring their favorite queen’s Facebook and Instagram feeds for any sign that RuPaul had tapped them for one more chance at superstardom. Thus, when Trixie Mattel canceled much of the middle of her summer run here in Provincetown, fans went nuts speculating what that might mean. While the cast has not been confirmed and every queen is keeping a tight lip, we’ll have to wait just a bit longer. But what is for certain is the fantastic and plastic queen is back in Provincetown with her show Trixie Mattel: Now With Moving Parts, and you definitely don’t want to miss it.

Mattel made her Provincetown debut last summer wowing audiences with her standup comedy, something she didn’t get a chance to showcase on the seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, from which she was eliminated early on prompting an outcry from her fans. But as she’s toured the country with her live shows Trixie has positioned herself as one of the top drag performers in the country, eclipsing some of the very queens who beat her that season. And her sophomore effort at the Post Office Cabaret is proof that she’s a veritable comedic force who very quickly has established herself as a star in a town with an unparalleled drag queen legacy.

Trixie Mattel: Now With Moving Parts is a straight up, standup comedy show presented with a drag queen’s sensibility and a gay mystique. And there is no lip-synching here as Trixie’s ace up her sequined sleeve is that she is a bang-up country singer. If you’ve never seen Trixie live, make a beeline to this show, as it gives her a platform to present all of her varied talents in a way that her stint on reality TV didn’t. Plus, if all those rabid Drag Race fans are correct, and their Nancy Drew detective work is accurate and Trixie is indeed on the upcoming season of All Stars, you’re going to want to see one of the top contenders in action. From her mind-blowing aesthetic to her ferocious comedic chops to her subtle and beautiful singing, Trixie Mattel is one to watch, not just on TV, but for any fan of live performance who is looking for something totally new and fresh.

Trixie Mattel: Now With Moving Parts plays at the Post Office Cabaret, 303 Commercial St., Provincetown, Thursdays and Fridays and Tuesdays and Wednesdays through September 7 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets ($30) are available at the box office and online at postofficecabaret.com.
