Creative and flexible. These are words not always associated with t-shirt shops, but D. Flax’s owner Jonathan says that’s his secret to keeping his shop extra-ordinary. While the now famous handwritten small letters “provincetown” and “cape cod” continue to be excellent sellers, and today come in more than 30 colors, he has continued to expand his offerings. With a studio to print his and Darren’s new designs, and a finger on the pulse of Provincetown, D. Flax continues to create art-inspired designs in many different materials, from 100% cotton to triblends to eco-fabric made of recycled plastic and partly organic cotton. In addition, they offer a huge range of colors and sizes, from teeny-tiny baby to 5X adult.
Each year D. Flax presents new designs for eager returning tourists. During Bear Week and Carnival the shop is mobbed, as it rolls out at least 10 new designs for each week. There are also sweatshirts, hats, bags made out of recycled sails, and locally made wallets and bracelets, to name just a few. Of particular note: 4 Ocean recycled plastic bracelets. For every one purchased, a pound of plastic is removed from the ocean. Go into this little shop; you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the service and the selection!
