Promotion at the Pilgrim Monument

The Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum (PMPM) announced the promotion of John DeSouza to Deputy Executive Director. In this new role, DeSouza will have expanded responsibilities for staffing, budgeting and operations while continuing his duties over membership.

“It is with my great pleasure to announce John DeSouza as Deputy Executive Director,” said Dr. David Weidner, Executive Director of PMPM. “He has been a key team player over the past six years and will continue to contribute to the future growth and development of our programs and facilities.”

“John is a trusted and valuable teammate who not only has deep institutional knowledge from his history with PMPM, but also embraces the vision and direction of where we’re headed. This new role signifies the growth of PMPM and John is the perfect person to fill it,” said Courtney Hurst, President of the PMPM Board of Trustees.

Previously, DeSouza had served as the PMPM Constituent Relations Manager where he helped increase membership, increased fundraising, developed and executed new programs and streamlined administrative processes.  Prior to joining the PMPM, DeSouza was principal and owner of JDDS & Co., a professional consultancy firm serving a diverse range of businesses in the professional and creative communities.  DeSouza has both a Master of Public Studies degree and also a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.

DeSouza has volunteered extensively in the community including with the Provincetown Business Guild and the Provincetown International Film Festival and he continues to support many charitable causes in Provincetown and on Cape Cod.

Women’s Write-In at the Provincetown Library

On Tuesday evenings in April, from 6:30 – 8 p.m., the Provincetown Public Library, 356 Commercial St., will offer a Women’s Write-In organized by Mary Ann Bragg. The program will offer a chance for women to work in each other’s company to polish an essay or op-ed piece, ask for feedback on a poem, or make progress on a novel, screenplay, play, or any other written work. Writers will write for 30 minutes or so and then read excerpts of their work if they wish.

The Write-In will take place in the Library’s Lower Level

Truro Public Library Hosts the First Cape Cod Classical Roadshow

Truro Public Library will be one of three Cape Cod libraries to host a concert on the debut tour of the Cape Cod Classical Roadshow, performed by six award-winning alumni of the popular, long-running public radio show, NPR’s From the Top with Host Christopher O’Riley. The Truro performance will be held on Saturday, April 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Truro Public Library.  All three concerts will be free and open to the public.  The program will offer a broad range of composers, musical styles and eras, and instrumentation. Examples include a clarinet quartet and a piano solo by Brahms; a string quartet by Janáček; a clarinet solo by Stravinsky; a viola sonata by Hindemith; a sonata for piano and cello by Beethoven; and a piano quintet by Prokofiev.  The featured performers include: Highland Street, an ensemble composed of Mira Williams, viola; Victoria Pan, violin; Sophie Applbaum, cello; and Greta Myatieva, violin; and Patrick Pan, piano, and Aleksis Martin, clarinet.  The performances—modeled on the ‘From the Top’ format—will be interspersed with brief interviews with each of the performers. King Richard’s Faire Auditions for Cast and Crew

King Richard’s Faire announces 2018 auditions by appointment on either Sat. April 21 or Sunday April 22 at the Boston Center for the Arts- Arts Resource Center, 527 Tremont Street, Boston in the Calderwood Pavilion. Actors, musicians, technicians, and performers may audition for New England’s oldest and largest Renaissance Faire in Carver, Mass. Musicians – trumpeters, violinists, pipers, drummers and keyboardists – as well as technical staff are especially needed.

Positions are both paid and unpaid, and Villager cast members receive a free four-week theater training program and eight weeks of performance experience from September 1 – October 21, weekends and all Monday holidays.
