“The shop is painted to reflect the ocean, with a dark gray floor and bone-white custom-made furniture to showcase the gifts. It’s airy and light, yet somehow packed with surprises.”
When you step up into The Captain’s Daughters Seaside Sundries and Tea Room, the first thing you notice is the aroma: spicy, grassy almost, with hints of citrus and flowers. It’s a clean herbal smell that matches the clean lines of this fabulous boutique/gallery/tearoom.
One wall is devoted entirely to the comforting beverage, featuring “East End Elixir,” a soothing herbal blend, “Race Point Rooibos,” and the top seller “Golden Girls Chai.” There’s a sense of fun to the products here. One of the more whimsical gifts are colorful bandanas that Dani and Meghan (the two young women purveyors) have repurposed and then stitched with a playful cursive “P’town.” The “elevated souvenirs,” as they call them, offer the savvier tourist local choices in the gifts: soap from Scott Haag, leather by local Florence Mauclere of Twigs and Bones, monk oil, Binchotan Charcoal (natural water purifying sticks), and candles that smell like green grass and cool breezes. The emphasis is on wellness, comfort, and personal experience. There’s a story behind every carefully selected product.
The shop is painted to reflect the ocean, with a dark gray floor and bone-white custom-made furniture to showcase the gifts. It’s airy and light, yet somehow packed with surprises. The walls feature artists’ work, changed regularly, as a gallery. They have openings, workshops, and guest artists, including upcoming events such as floral design with Sophie Yingling and fashion design with Erin Robertson, to name just a few of the festivities slated for this year-round establishment. Stop by and let Dani or Meghan “welcome in” your arrival.
