WHAT for Kids! summer auditions scheduled for May 5
WHAT for Kids! the family theater wing of Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, is holding auditions for the 2018 summer season production of The Magic Cloak, a new play for young audiences. Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 5, 3 – 5 p.m., in the second floor rehearsal room at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, 2357 State Highway Rt. 6 in Wellfleet.
Written and directed by Stephen Russell, The Magic Cloak is based on the classic fairy tale, The Twelve Dancing Princesses. The king has a problem. Every time he asks his daughters to dance for him, he finds the new shoes he bought for them have been worn to pieces. When no one can tell him how or why, he decides to announce a contest. The first person who can solve this mystery will be allowed to marry one of the daughters. Many try, but none succeed–until a mysterious stranger appears. He is both wiser and poorer than all the others put together. And he has something that no one else has: a Magic Cloak!
Both adult and young actors are needed, ages 8-50. No monologue or special preparation is required for the auditions, which consist of cold readings from the script. First Rehearsal: June 12. First Public Performance: July 9. Closing Performance: August 23.
Now in its 17th season, WHAT for Kids! is multi-generational theater for audiences of all ages. Performances are held Monday-Thursday evenings in The Larry Phillips Performance Pavilion at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater. A complete casting breakdown is on the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater website: what.org/auditions.
