“It’s a place where anyone can feel comfortable no matter what level of fitness or current body shape they have.”
The oldest continually run gym on Cape Cod, Provincetown Gym and Fitness was first opened in 1976—but there’s nothing about it that reflects the past. The gym is impeccably clean, modern, and airy, and it attracts a wide range of people, from gym rats to casual visitors. It’s a place where anyone can feel comfortable no matter what level of fitness or current body shape they have. There’s even a handicapped elevator available for members who can’t manage the stairs!
Spread out over three floors, the gym includes massage suites, a sauna, a tanning room, a spin studio, and an aerobics studio. That’s not all, of course: treadmills, steppers, upright and recumbent bikes, rowers, elliptical cross-trainers, and advanced motion trainers round out the cardio, and weights and strength training equipment round out the rest. But owner Dave Bedard thinks the gym’s strongest asset is the people. “The gym hires only year round members of the community, and they’ve all been with me for a very long time,” he says. “And we’ve developed wonderful relationships with our members.” Cape Cod Life agrees: it awarded the gym the Best of Cape Cod for both 2015 and 2016!
