There are gift shops, and then there’s A Will o’ the Wisp. Located just off Route 6 in Truro on a seemingly isolated and achingly beautiful property, the shop is fiercely devoted to the area: everything in it is connected to the region, from the 25 artists and artisans whose work is represented to the honey gathered from hives all over the Cape. Second-generation owner Sandra Remington says, “A Will o’ the Wisp is a light hovering over marsh lands. It reminds us of the natural beauty of Cape Cod that’s represented in the items we offer.”
Those items include glasswork; jewelry; books, cards, and photographs; clothing; shell wreaths (the most popular item for the 19 years the shop has been open!); jams (the first ones were made by Remington’s great-grandmother); books; and that honey. “Next year we’ll have an observation hive,” says Remington. “Education is important.” The kitchen was just permitted, so watch for enticing baked goods in the future as well. Everything in the shop/gallery works together in lovely harmony. “What we like is functional art,” Remington explains. “We believe in beautiful things that work, in recycling, and in offering one-of-a-kind objects.” No matter what you’re looking for (or perhaps even the things you don’t know you’re looking for!), you’ll find it here.
