Perhaps the most iconic structure in Provincetown, the Pilgrim Monument can be seen across the Bay, all the way out to Brewster. Situated atop a great hill, there has long been talk of building a funicular to get people from Bradford Street up to the Monument and its attached Provincetown Museum (PMPM) without the arduous climb. The funicular will open mid-June, but the season has already begun at PMPM, which opened earlier this month. Last year, the Museum unveiled a new permanent exhibition called Our Story: The Complicated Relationship of the Indigenous Wampanoag and the Mayflower Pilgrims, curated by members of the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe, Paula and Steven Peters. It’s an exceptional, thought-provoking, and interactive exhibit that is a must for anyone in town. The PMPM is now open Saturday – Monday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tickets, which must be reserved due to pandemic protocols, can be purchased online.
